100th Anniversary

Betsey B. Winslow School was built in 1912 and was named for Betsey B. Winslow,
a member of the New Bedford School Committee and a former teacher.

She was the first person in the city to have a school named after her while she was still alive. 
Her annual salary in 1871 was $525.00.
